Biografia

Melissa Greene grew up singing in church. In fact, she began living and breathing music seven days a week in dance, musical theater, and ballet - even clogging! For 14 years, she practiced, practiced and practiced some more. But it wasn't until the age of 16, after a TRUTH concert, that Melissa felt God calling her to use her voice in ministry full time. Determined to pursue that calling, she attended Lee University where she sang for the Lee Singers and for Second Edition, a touring group at the university. When the opportunity arose to join TRUTH and travel abroad, she took it as an open door provided by the Lord. She used her talents in TRUTH for two years. Then In 2002, Melissa began working on Then And There, her first independent, solo release. But God has a way of shaking things up and 2002 was a year of great change for Melissa. When presented with the opportunity to join Avalon, she jumped at the chance! But, that wasn't the only surprise God had in store for Melissa. Love was in the air when Melissa and Ben Greene decided to marry in June of 2002.

"People have always told me to have a backup plan... just in case," Melissa says. "But I find my greatest peace in the unknown, in totally relying on God. I find no greater joy than using my voice, God's talent placed inside me, to glorify Him. For that reason only are any of us given gifts!! Being a part of Avalon has been such a blessing and humbling experience. I love seeing the reaction in the people's faces when they hear the songs. Seeing them be blessed by God through our music, that is the best feeling of all. We can all be used and should all be used by God! Just SURRENDER ALL to Him, and watch what He has in store for you, that's the secret of having no back-up plan. That is my motto!"
